Over the last few weeks we have been extremely busy. We have announced our partnerships with Communities in School and the Boys and Girls Clubs of Coastal Carolina. We have attended the fantastic business after hours expo. We have solidified a PA Announcer, food vendors, and our promotional schedule. Our pocket schedules are in and are ready for distribution. When our interns come in next week, that will be job one for them.
Our mascot also arrived. We can't wait to unveil him. And yes it's a Marlin. That's all I can say. Oh and it has a huge nose, maybe too large. I swear, no more details. You'll just have to wait.
Most importantly, we have been searching for host families for the season for our players, coaches, interns, and staff. We are in need of at least 6-7 more supportive host families for the season. This host family program includes season tickets for the whole family and is a great experience for everyone involved. I have seen many great relationships formed from this particular program in the past. So, if you have a spare room in the house and want to help out the local baseball team, please give us a call. Really, host families are the backbone of this organization, along with our loyal sponsors. If you can help us out, it would be greatly appreciated.

Marlins News and Notes
Usually when May 1st rolls around each year in the Coastal Plain League, General Managers realize that this is the month where everything takes shape. We basically have to cross our T's and dot our I's. From ownership down to the gameday staff, we all have to be on the same page. This will be my fourth opening day in the Coastal Plain League and probably the most exciting for me. We are working really hard putting the finishing touches on everything for opening weekend at Puck O'Neal Field (officially changed the name) at Big Rock Stadium.
In a couple weeks, our interns will arrive as well as our broadcaster. They will provide much needed additional help in preparation for the season. We all will be working around the clock, but the experience will be very rewarding in the end.
Our website is finally nearing completion as more content is being added each day. We have added a groups tab, and camps box, and our loyal sponsor links. Please check back each day as players will be released and events will be announced. Our promo schedule has been completed as well. Keep an eye out for our pocket schedules dispersed around the communities.
As you probably know already, the Marlins are still looking for host families for the summer season. If anyone would like information on host families, please contact me at any time.
Tonight, Buddy and I will be attending the Communities in Schools Spring Gala. There will be a special announcement made as well as some great Marlins auction items. If you haven't made any plans for tonight, I would advise everyone to go. See you there!
This has nothing to do with baseball, but from time to time I would like to share daily experiences in my life. And after all, that is what blogging is all about. So I went and got a haircut this morning at a place that shall remain nameless in preparation for tonight's festivities. Here is the conversation between the young lady and myself:
(actually talking about baseball and then it takes a turn for the worst)
Young Lady: Have you used any hair care products before?
Me: No I haven't. Why, should I be using hair care products?
Young Lady: No, but you might want to try Nexxus.
Me: What's that?
Young Lady: Well, it's kind of like Rogaine? It would help with thickening hair and keep hair from falling out.
Me (feeling inadequate and confused): Why, am I going bald?
Young Lady: No, not at all.
Me (now very confused): Oh, well ok.
- That definitely made my day.
