Today we had the annual spring general managers' meeting that the Marlins hosted. Basically, this is an operational and procedural meeting for the upcoming season. We touched upon umpires, player contracts, post game meals, apparel, radio, and plenty of other things. I would like to thank both Hampton Inns (Atlantic Beach and Morehead City) for accommodating all teams in attendance. I would also like to thank McCurdy's Restaurant and Deck for preparing a delicious lunch for everyone today.
After the meeting, some of the front office staff from the other teams wanted to see the new baseball stadium. We walked the grounds at O'Neal Field at Big Rock Stadium and shared our vision of the ballpark with them. They certainly found it to be a very nice facility. I think Morehead City is going to be very pleased with the outcome.
As some of you know, I have been involved with the Coastal Plain League for three seasons and I very much enjoy these meetings as I get to see some old friends and share ideas with other ballclubs. Maybe we'll think about hosting the fall meeting in the near future.
