The Effect has Officially Begun

Well, the Marlins are off and running....err.... swimming. After probably the busiest month of my life, we are smack in the middle of our season and playing some decent ball. Through 16 games, the Marlins sit in 2nd place in the South division. Our conditional players played really well through the first week and half of the season. I commend them for their hard work and would like to thank every one of them for setting a standard both on and off the field. Now that most of our team has arrived, we can finally run the same lineup out there on a daily basis. This can only help our chances in making a run a the Petitt Cup. Two of our players were drafted in this year's MLB amateur draft: Juan Perez and Chad Oberacker. Juan Perez was drafted by the Colorado Rockies and already signed. Unfortunately, Juan was unable to make it to Morehead City, but we wish him the best of luck in his pro career. Chad was drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals and just reported this past Friday. We are thrilled to have him roaming center for us for the rest of the season.

The Marlins had a great opening night on May 28th and hopefully everyone had a chance to see what we have been talking about for three months. After seven home games, we are averaging about 1100 fans a game. We fully expect that number to increase as the season moves along. Big Rock Stadium is a beautiful place to play and we can't wait for the finishing touches on the stadium throughout the upcoming weeks.

I am very pleased with the overall product and the job my staff has done. We have 21 home dates left with many fun-filled activities planned. If you haven't had the chance to check out a game, we highly recommend it.
