The Marlins meet a Marlin

This week is rather unique for a team in the CPL. The Marlins only have one home game. This is a great week to prepare for other games and reflect on what needs to improve at the ballpark and make each fan's experience more rewarding. My hardworking staff also needs time to re-energize. Each home game requires about 15 hours of work. Sometimes more depending on the time of the game. When we have some down time, we certainly like to take a few moments for ourselves.

The Marlins are in Columbia tonight. We had a new catcher from NC State come in today, named Chris Schaeffer. We feel that our catcher rotation will remain strong and fresh throughout the season with the addition of Chris. The team probably won't get back until the early morning, but they have an off day to recover. We just might have some big plans for this off day, which includes some much needed team bonding (kind of like the Yankees did last year). We had a bunch of new guys that arrived within the past week. This upcoming off day is crucial for the stretch run in the first half of the season.

The Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournament is underway in Morehead City. I was thinking about checking the event out yesterday, but I just couldn't make it out there. I heard that a fisherman caught a record Blue Marlin. Two of our players were in attendance to view the beast and had their picture taken with it. That picture can be seen on our facebook page. I think today is the day that I check this amazing tournament out.
