Over the last few days, the Marlins were fighting for the Division and home field advantage in the playoffs with the Florence RedWolves. After a loss Friday night and another hot streak by the 'Wolves, the Marlins remain in second place in the first half. Today is the last day of the first half of the season.
For those of you who would like know more about the playoff system, well let me enlighten you.
(Per League Manual)
The CPL will be divided into two separate Championship seasons. The team which has won the greatest percentage of games at the conclusion of each half shall be declared winner of that half of their Division in the CPL (East, West, and South).
Round 1 in the playoffs is best two -of-three series. Eight teams make the playoffs (6 division winners and 2-5 next best winning percentages). Essentially the same team can win the second half as well which opens up another playoff spot.
Round 2 is best two-of-three series.
The two winners of those second round series will advance to the Petitt Cup Championship Series. The Petitt Cup is best two-of-three series. This is the first year that all rounds will be broken down into series play.
