The Morehead City Marlins traveled to Fayetteville last night and exploded for 14 hits and collected 10 runs for the first time this season. Powers pitched a heck of a ballgame as the Marlins prevailed 10-2. Preston Shuey connected with his first home run of the season. I think it's safe to say that if we continue to hit and pitch like this, we'll be all right the rest of the way (ok, so I stated the obvious). It's always nice to come away with the victory in Fayetteville as they are always a tough team to play. They recruit and are coached well.
The Marlins currently sit in third place behind the Wilmington Sharks and the Florence RedWolves. The Marlins will travel to Florence tonight and return tomorrow to face the same foe. We are two games behind Florence, so these next two games are pivotal. The first half ends on June 28th which is right around the corner. As it stands now, despite being one game above .500, we are still in good position.
